Do you play the songs while reading music? I could not play the piano without music. My grands canplay by ear. They learn the songs so quickly. My grandson watched YouTube videos. My grand daughter was taking lessons until Covid. It is good that you play. Music keeps us young at heart!
All I need are the words and a starting chord, usually. I mostly play by ear (and a little knowledge, like C-F-G go together). I had lessons when I was young but I do not read music well. With a little patience, I can, but it is not second nature. It's much easier for me to listen and figure it out myself.
