I can manage all but stress management and public speaking. Neither of those are strong points. I took self-defense classes. I know basic first aid. I am not as good with computers as I once was, but I still can manage them. I keep our books and budget. Being a news writer required critical thinking skills. My manners aren't bad. Alas, I hate to cook, but we don't starve.
How do you do on that list?

Thursday Thirteen is played by lots of people; there is a list here if you want to read other Thursday Thirteens and/or play along. I've been playing for a while, and this is my 895th time to do a list of 13 on a Thursday. Or so sayth the Blogger counter, anyway.
I struggle with #2 & 3.
ReplyDeleteHow do I do on the list? Terrible, mostly. I can cook and handle digital literacy. The worst class I took in college was stress managment. (The professor was awful.) I can do some of those. Some, not so much.
ReplyDeleteStress management isn't my strong suit, especially these days. Public speaking used to be difficult, but I had a former Army NCO give me some great advice, and that changed everything.
ReplyDeleteI know where to kick a male assaulter
ReplyDeleteI still can't cook, unless slapping a hot dog or salmon filet on the George Foreman counts. Of the rest, the one that's turned out to be surprisingly important is public speaking. Looking back, I know the reason my advertising career was as successful as it was is that I was unafraid when it came to selling my work to a room. The value I bring to my minimum wage retail job at the card shop is my ability to make customers feel welcome and attended to, something that's easy when I slide into my old "presentation" mode. So if a young person would to ask me what to concentrate on, I'd advise them to pay attention to that.
