Yesterday I happened to spy a doe and her new fawn in the field in front of the house.
When I came home this afternoon, a deer had eaten all of my roses.
I really think it was the mom, because for the last several years she has eaten them to a nub each time she's had her little one! I know because I have caught her in the act.
Awww! The baby is soooo cute.
ReplyDeleteLovin' all the spots on the fawn. It's a bit unusual for them to have only one... most give birth to twins from what I have read. We had a set of twins in our neighborhood last summer. One was quite bold and the other quite skittish whenever we opened our front door. Haven't seen any babies in our yard yet this year.

Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteI left you a comment over at "my place", but in case you don't see it- hang some boxes of Irish Spring soap on those rosebushes. It works great for me!
Spring is indeed in the air! I've seen a mom and baby too since being back. Might have to try that Irish Spring trick!
