Some Kind of Woodpecker


My guidebook doesn't have a picture of this exact woodpecker. It looks close to either a Downy Woodpecker or a Northern Flicker Woodpecker, but the colors are not quite right.

    Well, I am no help at all, but this is a great shot. I did see a Red Winged Blackbird on my way to work early this morning.

    I did a search, and it appears to be a woodpecker known as a Northern Flicker. http://www.whatbird.com/browse/objs/All/birds_na_147/59/Family/11121/Woodpeckers%20(Picidae)/default.aspx
