Down by the mailbox the other day I spied a yellow something fluttering around.
Fortunately I had my camera so I snapped some photos.
These are called "southern dogface" butterflies.
Sounds like fightin' words to me!
They were very pretty in the gravel.
A bunch of butterflies is called a rabble.
These were southern dogface rabble-rousers.
I never knew that they were called a rabble. I can always count on you to teach me something new. xox... Great close ups of the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteA rabble. I love that!
ReplyDeleteI learned a new word today "rabble." Great photos.
ReplyDeleteI had some of those butterflies in my flower garden today. I didn't know their name and didn't know they were a rabble.
ReplyDeleteI love these! I did not know that word for butterflies- a rabble.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see them congregating like this, I say they're mud puddlin'. Sometimes the rabble(s)(?) are made up of blue butterflies.
