Too Hot to Handle

Our weather has been very un-June-like and instead has been more August-like.

The temperatures have been in the high 90s for a week now.

How hot is it?

It is so hot that when I go outside after taking a shower, my hair dries instantly.

It is so hot that ducks are flying upside down so their friends will get a breeze from their flapping wings.

It is so hot that eggs cook on the sidewalk.

It is so hot that the trees have started walking toward the pond.

Well, you get the idea.

It is hot. Can't do nothing about it and I am thankful we have air conditioning.

That picture, by the way, was taken yesterday afternoon. The thermometer was in the shade. The gauge on the other side of the house, which was in the sun, looked like this:

  1. Oh my gosh, that is hot! I love your sayings. It put a smile on my face.

It's cooling down up here in PA. Yesterday was 90, today in the lower 80's and all this week it's supposed to be in the 70's, very unusual for this summer, which has been quite hot.

I hope you get some of the cooler stuff your way!

  2. It's just plain U.G.L.Y. outdoors. David didn't even mow the lawn this week-end for fear of the grass burning up. Getting crunchy under our feet.

Cooler today, or so they say... I went out to the end of the driveway to get the mail and it still wasn't cool enough for my liking.

  3. My butter is soup! It's even hotter than it was in Mass.

  5. Actually I haven't minded it as much as I thought. I posted how the heat is forcing me to wake up earlier. I do worry about my son. He's been on the football field in 100 degrees but fortunately wasn't in helmet and pads.
