Help!

If anyone has successfully migrated their blog to a domain name, (i.e., if I went from bluecountrymagic.blogspot.com to bluecountrymagic.com) I have a question.

Can you still access the site from the blogger dashboard, or do you have to do something else to make it work?

I couldn't find the answer to that specific question in the blogger help.

Thanks.

  1. I've never used blogger outside of their system, so I don't have a quick answer, myself.

If you are really thinking about making the jump, I'd recommend at least looking at WordPress before making a final decision - it's really easy to set up and use, and it has a HUGE community of users that are super-willing to help if you do have any questions or issues.

  2. Yes, I've done that. Quite easy. Click on the "Settings" tab and then the "Publishing" option under that. Just put the new domain in the "Your Domain" box and you are done. Your original .blogspot address will also be redirected to the new domain.

  3. Jeff - so you just keep accessing it from the blogger dashboard per usual? Just the URL changes? If so, that is easy!

  4. Thank you both, Jeff & Ron, for responding. I am not changing this blog, but I have something else I am working on that I wanted to change. Your input is much appreciated.

  6. Ron is right. If you are interested in a more powerful platform, WordPress is a great system with a very active community of users and developers. It is not necessarily for the faint of heart if you don't have some sense of the underlying mechanics. If you're naturally curious and you really want to learn about php and css, Wordpress is a great way to get your hands dirty and figure things out on your own.
