I'm sure it was the way it was taught (by rote, memorizing dates and places, etc) than the content. My History teacher had these huge blackboards that her notes were written on....we came in, she sat at her desk and said begin. We'd have to COPY her notes into our notebooks, and at the end of the week turn the notebooks in. And take a test every couple of weeks. Her notes were dryyyyyyyy. Not even a book. The stuff they got away with in "teaching" back in the day. That's what I get for growing up in tinyassplace, Mississippi.
