Update on Botetourt Budget

Citizen Input Meeting on the FY13 County Budget

The General Fund Budget Committee of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors is inviting citizen input on proposed service cuts to address a $3 million budget shortfall in the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Botetourt County budget.
Reductions are proposed for:
  • Botetourt County Public Schools,
  • emergency services,
  • public safety,
  • recreation,
  • libraries,
  • community arts and service organizations,
  • senior van,
  • and other core services.

  1. Sad... but most people will not be willing to open their pocketbooks and pay higher taxes so unfortunately we all suffer.

  2. Obviously all these things are core services that everyone relies on at sometime in their life or another. People's reluctance to fund these services is the real crisis - a democratic crisis that threatens the very foundations of civilised society. What is going wrong with people's education as citizens? Who or what is teaching them to be very bad citizens?
