Spring Colors

Red bud and forsythia

A wildflower in the woods. One of my readers has pointed me in the right direciton for the name: Toothwart, or Lady's Smock. I thought it a wood anemone or dutchman's breeches, but I was wrong.

Red bud

Forsythia, turning green.

Red bud and a wild cherry

Red bud

Trees leafing out. Green green green!

Uncle Bill's cherry tree. I hope all of those blooms mean lots of cherries!

  1. Our Bradford Pear tree is already done with blossoms and has turned green, and our little cherry tree next to the porch has few blossoms left and is also greening out. Early spring, early summer. Maybe autumn will arrive in July? LOL

    1. I sincerely hope not. Though I recall some yellow on the locust in early August last year.

  2. You've captured the scenery beautifully! The flower may be Toothwort.

This site has a good photo of one: http://www.sierrapotomac.org/W_Needham/CutLeavedToothwort_050501.htm

Supposedly, the edible, peppery root tastes like watercress.

    1. I believe you're right. My mother called in Lady's smock; I remembered after I saw that at the sight you pointed out. Thank you!

  9. All the trees are leafing out and blooming here, too - a good month or more earlier than usual, thanks to the records high temps we've been having. I took advantage of the warm sunshine for a walk to the Arboretum today adn posted a few of the pics to my blog this evening.
